About
AREA____LUCE is a design practice rooted in material research and emotional resonance.
The studio, based in Copenhagen, explores the subtle ways spatial volumes and environments shape our personality and behaviours. Through material experimentation and a commitment to moving beyond traditional boundaries, it investigates the architecture of presence: how we inhabit space, and how space inhabits us.
Started as a personal inquiry by Davide Maccari into how form, material, and atmosphere influence human behaviour, the practice evolved when Julius Juul, creative director of HELIOT EMIL, joined early in its formation. Drawn together by a shared sensibility and a deep interest in holistic well-being and neuroscience, the two developed a cross-disciplinary language around space, objects, and ritual.
Defined by a language of idiosyncratic minimalism, the exhibition emphasises balance, sculptural presence, and material tension. Each piece is not a solution but a quiet provocation, raising open-ended questions: How do we relate to objects? How do the things around us shape how we feel?
